Further thoughts on the cultural labor of poetry and art. Not merely "is it good?," but "what has it accomplished?"...reviews of recent poetry collections; selected poems and art dealing with war/peace/social change; reviews of poetry readings; links to political commentary (particularly on conflicts in the Middle East); youtubed performances of music, demos, and other audio-video nuggets dealing with peaceful change, dissent and resistance.
Great film, I've seen it a couple of times over the years.
The director, Barbara Kopple, did another good one, released in 1991, American Dream, about a long bitter strike by workers at Hormel meatpacking company in Austin, Minnesota in the 1980's. She also directed the film Wild Man Blues, about Woody Allen's jazz band tour of Europe. Liked that one too.

Thanks, Lyle. AMERICAN DREAM is great too, perhaps more painful to watch because of how wrongly everything ends. She's a classic.
