I was too young to love X before they were gone, but youtube has been a worthy recreator of nostalgia. I miss John Doe and Exene Cervenka, and I never even knew them. I wanted to post "Fourth of July", but I can't find any functional video online to celebrate the holiday.
I love X! John Doe is one of my favorite rock songwriters. I'm a great fan of his solo recordings as well - though I've been sorely disappointed in Exene's. This amuses me because back in the early eighties when I first got into X I was more a great fan of Exene but not so much John. No more....
Poetry books include *To See the Earth,* *Instants,* *Primer for Non-Native Speakers,* *Catalogue of Comedic Novelties: Selected Poems of Lev Rubinstein,* and A Kindred Orphanhood: Selected Poems of Sergey Gandlevsky*. Scholarship: *Behind the Lines: War Resistance Poetry on the American Homefront Since 1941.*
