Further thoughts on the cultural labor of poetry and art. Not merely "is it good?," but "what has it accomplished?"...reviews of recent poetry collections; selected poems and art dealing with war/peace/social change; reviews of poetry readings; links to political commentary (particularly on conflicts in the Middle East); youtubed performances of music, demos, and other audio-video nuggets dealing with peaceful change, dissent and resistance.
I often worked with Marwan during the 2004 elections. At that time he worked so hard he ended up in the hospital with a heart problem. I never saw anyone so selfless and so tireless. I am very sorry to hear he is gone. The world is a poorer place without him.
You fought so bravely for what you believed in, and made a difference. You fought your cancer with the bravest of spirit too. You enriched my life. I am proud to have been your friend.
Thank you, Brother! I spent the weekend at Marwan's memorial, where I gave him an oral tribute for what he meant to me and the world. In brief, there are those who are good to the people around them, and that is so meaningful. And there are those who see the big picture, who fight for the oppressed and forgotten in the world. Marwan Burgan was both, and I was so blessed to know him. He will always remain in my heart and inspire my life.

Thanks for your comment, Eric, and for your work as well.
